Online therapy for individuals, couples, and families in Maryland
When life feels overwhelming, you don’t have to carry it alone.
If you’re feeling stuck or emotionally exhausted, support is available.
Hi, I’m Kimberly Sibley, LCSW-C, MSW, and I’m so glad you’re here. I believe therapy is more than just talking, it’s a safe, supportive space where you can feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Life can be challenging, and sometimes we all need a place to pause, reflect, and work through what feels heavy.
My therapeutic approach is gentle, genuine, and collaborative. I meet you where you are, offering compassionate guidance as we explore your thoughts, navigate past experiences, and uncover strengths you may not yet realize you have. Together, we’ll build practical tools to manage stress, find balance, and create meaningful change, at a pace that feels right for you. I believe therapy should be a space where growth feels natural, empowering, and uniquely your own.
I live in the beautiful mountains of Maryland and am a proud native of West Virginia. I’m married, a mother, and a “Meemaw”, roles that have deeply shaped my life and for which I am truly grateful. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time in nature, gardening, traveling, and being with my family and animals, all of which help keep me grounded and present in my work with clients.
I work primarily with clients ages 8 y/o and older, as well as military personnel, students, parents, couples, families, and first responders. I support individuals navigating relationships, career transitions, major life changes, and a wide range of mental health challenges.
Everyone’s journey is unique, and I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion, understanding, and encouragement. I understand that asking for help isn’t always easy, and I want you to know that simply being here shows courage. I would be honored to support you on your path toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
You might be here because you’re feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or unsure why things feel so heavy right now. Maybe you’ve been holding it together for everyone else, but inside, you’re struggling.
Therapy offers a space where you don’t have to explain yourself perfectly or have all the answers. Together, we can slow things down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and work toward meaningful, sustainable change at a pace that feels right for you.
***Please note that I am not a crisis center. If you are experiencing an urgent matter or crisis, please call 911 or text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.

For more than 20 years, I have built a diverse and meaningful career in therapy, behavioral health, and social work, often balancing both full-time and part-time roles to broaden my experience and continually grow both personally and professionally. Since deciding to pursue a degree in human services in 1997, I have worked in a wide range of professional roles, including Therapist/Psychotherapist, Care Counselor, Children’s Behavioral Health Consultant, Family Services Social Worker, Behavioral Health Case Manager, Transition Specialist, and Blood Services Director.
I bring 10 years of experience working with the Department of Human Services in child welfare, including providing court testimony, along with providing counseling, case management and consultation services, since 2004 in MD and PA. My experience also includes supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, youth involved in juvenile sex offender programs, and men participating in Abuse Intervention Programs (AIP) through our local Family Crisis Resource Center.
In addition, I have 13 years of experience completing domestic and international adoptive home studies for both the State of Maryland and a private adoption agency in central Maryland. My work in inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings, as well as in employee assistance programs while at WMHS (now UPMC), has shaped my understanding that healing looks different for everyone and that meaningful change is possible with the right support.
Beyond clinical work, I am also passionate about business and education. I have spent 10 years in retail management and 11 years in small business ownership, as well as a combined 11 years in contracted roles as an Ethnobotany Research Assistant, Substitute Teacher, and Educational Tutor in Math, Reading, English, and ESL. I have had the privilege of teaching domestic and international students ages 4–17 across three companies in the United States and China, leading over 15,000 individual and group classes, to date. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for diverse cultures, students, learning styles, and education.
I entered this profession because I am deeply committed to helping people feel empowered, supported, and understood in their own lives. I value connection, kindness, genuineness, and encouragement, and I strive to create a space where you can be fully yourself while working toward meaningful and lasting change.

Yes. What you share in therapy is strictly confidential and protected by both federal and state laws. This means that the information you discuss in our sessions will not be shared with anyone without your written permission.
However, there are a few specific situations where I am legally and ethically required to break confidentiality to ensure safety. These include:
If you express intent to harm yourself or someone else, and there is an imminent risk of danger.
If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult.
If I receive a court order or subpoena requiring the release of records.
In cases if disclosure is necessary to prevent a serious threat to public safety.
-
Sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform to ensure your privacy and confidentiality.
-
You may schedule a session by clicking on the “Book Now” link under the “Insurance and Appointments” tab which will direct you to my scheduling calendar via Headway or Sondermind, depending on your form of payment/insurance. You may also contact me directly through my contact form or by email. I’ll respond within 24–48 hours to discuss availability and help you get started.
-
Yes, if requested, I offer a brief (10–15 minute) consultation to answer questions and ensure we’re a good fit before starting therapy.
-
Our first session focuses on getting to know you, your background, goals, and what brings you to therapy. We will complete an intake diagnostic to gather more information, discuss consents and work together to identify your needs and create a plan for moving forward.
-
Yes. All sessions are currently offered via secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth. You can join sessions from your computer, tablet, or phone in a private, comfortable space. I am not seeing patients for in-person sessions at this time.
Telehealth sessions are not conducted while a client is operating a vehicle and may only proceed from a parked vehicle when privacy and safety can be ensured.
-
Yes, absolutely! Research shows that virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions. Most of my clients prefer virtual therapy as sessions are conducted in the privacy of their own home, without traveling to an office, as well as less waiting time. Virtual therapy is also helpful for those struggling with social anxiety.
-
Most clients start with weekly sessions. As therapy progresses, we may move to bi-weekly and then monthly sessions (depending on your goals and comfort).
-
Therapy is a personal process. Some people make significant progress in a few months, while others continue longer for ongoing support and growth. We’ll collaborate on what feels right for you.
-
My approach is compassionate and evidence-based. I draw from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, trauma-informed care, family systems, couples therapy, supportive therapy, psychodynamic, person-centered, solution-focused, and strengths-based approaches to meet each client’s unique needs. Many people benefit from talk therapy and simply having a supportive space to talk, receive guidance, and feel heard.
-
That’s completely ok! You don’t need to have it all figured out to start therapy, that’s what we’ll explore together. The first step is simply reaching out.
-
Telehealth services are available to clients who are physically located in Maryland at the time of their session, in accordance with Maryland licensing regulations.
Clients do not need to be Maryland residents to receive services. As long as you are physically present in Maryland during your telehealth session, services may be provided in accordance with licensing laws. Insurance coverage is subject to individual plan benefits.
Telehealth services cannot be provided if a client is temporarily or permanently located outside of Maryland, including during travel. Sessions may resume once you return to Maryland.
I am in the process of applying for additional licenses in other states and will update, when available.

ESA letters may be provided only when clinically appropriate after a thorough assessment and established therapeutic relationship. ESA letters support housing accommodations under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) for individuals with a mental or emotional disability and are not service animals under the ADA. Letters are issued solely for housing purposes, and only to current clients based on professional judgment.
Disclaimer: Requests for letters based solely on convenience, after minimal sessions, or with inconsistent attendance cannot be accommodated.
-
Disability or accommodation letters may be provided only when clinically appropriate and based on an assessment of your mental or emotional condition. They can support housing, workplace, or academic accommodations but are issued solely at the provider’s discretion and require an established therapeutic relationship with consistent attendance. Letters are typically issued after multiple sessions to ensure ongoing clinical need and are updated periodically as appropriate.
Disclaimer: Requests for letters based solely on convenience, after minimal sessions, or with inconsistent attendance cannot be accommodated.

To maintain effective therapy, clients must provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If a client arrives more than 10 minutes late, the session will be marked as a missed session, and a $50 fee will apply for missed sessions or late cancellations. After 3 missed sessions or late cancellations, a client may be discharged, in line with ethical standards, with advance notice and referral options offered when appropriate to ensure continuity of care.
Treatment Modalities
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I use a collaborative, individualized approach, drawing from evidence-based treatment modalities to meet your unique needs, goals, and lived experiences. Below are some of the therapeutic approaches I may incorporate into our work together.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns and develop practical skills to reduce anxiety, depression, and overwhelming stress. CBT is structured, goal-oriented, and especially helpful for learning tools you can use outside of sessions.
Commonly used for:
Anxiety, depression, panic attacks, OCD, phobias, stress management, ADHD, substance abuse and other addictions
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT helps individuals who experience intense emotions learn how to regulate feelings, tolerate distress, and improve relationships. This approach emphasizes balance, accepting yourself as you are, while working toward meaningful change.
Commonly used for:
Emotional dysregulation, self-harm behaviors, suicidal ideation, mood instability, trauma, relationships
Psychodynamic Therapy
This approach explores how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns influence your present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Gaining insight can lead to deeper healing and lasting change.
Commonly used for:
Attachment issues, relationship patterns, self-esteem concerns, long-standing emotional struggles
Person-Centered Therapy
Person-centered therapy provides a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you are met with empathy, respect, and authenticity. This approach helps you reconnect with your strengths and inner wisdom.
Commonly used for:
Self-esteem, identity exploration, personal growth
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Trauma-informed care recognizes how trauma affects the nervous system, emotions, and sense of safety. Therapy is paced gently, with a strong emphasis on trust, empowerment, and emotional safety.
Commonly used for:
Trauma survivors, abuse, neglect, medical or relational trauma
Solution-Focused Therapy
This approach emphasizes your strengths and focuses on solutions rather than problems. Therapy centers on what’s working, what you want to change, and how to move forward efficiently.
Commonly used for:
Life stressors, work challenges, relationship concerns, short-term goals
Couples & Family Therapy
Couples and family therapy focuses on improving communication, strengthening relationships, and addressing patterns that create conflict. Sessions provide a safe space to understand each other and work toward healthier connections.
Commonly used for:
Relationship conflict, parenting challenges, blended families, communication issues

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.”
